FAQ

FAQ

Q. What is an Artisan baker and how is it different to a regular baker?
A. An Artisan baker is a skilled craftsperson - someone who bakes in a traditional or non-mechanized way using high quality ingredients.

Q. When do I need to order to receive my baking?
A. Because our products are baked fresh each day, most of them need to be ordered at least a day in advance. Each afternoon, we advise our bakers which products they need to prepare early the next morning. Therefore your order needs to be received by us before 2pm to be made fresh and shipped the next day. Because of baking or icing methods, some of our more complex products take more than one day to prepare. Each product’s delivery time is indicated alongside the product listing.

Q. Is your bakery easy to get to?
A. Yes – we are located in the upper Greerton village on 1289 Cameron Road. There is a dedicated off street parking area in front of the bakery that is accessible from whichever direction you are coming from. See our map for the specific location.

Q. What makes your bakery different from all the rest?
A. The Blomquists family have been baking in the Tauranga region for nearly 100 years! That tradition of baking and the use of true artisan techniques have helped us win multiple awards at the New Zealand bakery of the year awards. As well as our philosophy of care and tradition, community comes first at Blomquists and each day we donate all unsold baked goodies to charity.

Q. Can I order my product online and pick it up at any time?
A. We encourage our customers to order online in advance to avoid disappointment. We are open from 5am to 5pm Monday to Friday and 7am to 2pm Saturday and we will have your product ready for pickup as arranged.

Q. How does your coffee compare to proper café coffee?
A. Come in and see. Our qualified baristas use locally roasted award winning fair trade coffee in take-out cups. We have a loyalty card system and you can text us in advance on 022 571 5133 to have your coffee waiting when you drop by on the way to work.

Q. What is your delivery charge?
A. We delivery any order with a value of $40 or more locally for $10, within the North Island for $22.50 (overnight Courier, non-rural, non-Saturday) and within the South Island for $31.00 (non-rural, non-Saturday).

Q. Which areas of Tauranga are defined as ‘local’?
A. Within Tauranga and Mount Maunganui from Domain Road, Papamoa to Te Puna Road.

Q. Do you sell gluten free?
A. Our berry and custard cake is made with gluten free ingredients. However, a bakery cannot offer truly gluten-free products unless they have separate premises where these are made. This is because the gluten particles become airborne and will land on implements and surfaces causing cross-contamination.

Q. Do you use additives or pre-mixes?
A. Absolutely not! We pride ourselves on using only fresh, natural ingredients. All our baking is preservative free.

Q. What happens if my cake arrives damaged?
A. At Blomquists we pride ourselves on our quality and pack our products carefully to avoid damage. If your cake were to arrive damaged, please contact us by email blomquistsbakery@gmail.com or phone: 07 571 5133 and we will either re-supply it or refund.

Blomquist Bakery will be closed for the holiday season from 25th December to 6th January - Merry Christmas!
